Our "third" has a "second"
One of my favorite parts of this business is capturing special times for my friends. Before, an engagement meant that I saw the ring, I bought a drink, and I got excited for the wedding. I rarely slowed down to notice the love. These two people are very special people to me, to us (my hubby and I). Nate was my husband's roommate before we moved in together. And... once we moved in together, Nate became our "third." While this may sound odd to all of you, it was not odd in the least to us. We LOVED having Nate at our place, we loved the laughter he brought with him, we loved sitting down to watch TV with him, we loved that he was willing to be our "third." So when Nate was needing a place to crash for a couple months while house hunting last year, we jumped at the opportunity to have our "third" back. Nate even has a chair at our house. Forever and ever, that chair will be Nate's chair (even though our dog Tootsie would argue differently). Now... Nate will never again be our "third." He has joined forces with Rachel. Fittingly enough, they met at Jeff's birthday bash at one of our favorite spots, Williams. Rachel couldn't be more perfect, for Nate, and for us. ;) It seems as if she's been Nate's counterpart forever, and sometimes, I even say things like "remember when..." and she has to remind me, "no, I don't, because that was 5 years ago!" Ooops. Rachel has introduced us to a Nate we hadn't yet seen. When the two of them are together, life seems to move a little more easily, smiles seem to come a little more readily, and belly laughs are always inevitable. As sappy as it seems, I feel like these two were destined for each other.
Of course, because of just how much I love these two, their engagement photos will come in two installments. Here is the first. We went back to the place it all began... and it couldn't have been more fun!

Stacie & Dan...
I was so honored when Stacie called me to do some engagement photos. Stacie and Dan live on the East Coast, but were in MN for a weekend and I got to spend a chunk of that precious time with them running around taking photos. It is evident that Stacie & Dan are deeply in love. Honestly, I feel like we laughed the entire session! What a fun time! Stacie and Dan, thank you for letting me capture such a special time in your life together. I can't wait to hear all about your beautiful destination wedding!! :)
Annie & Erik [Minneapolis Engagement Photography]
Last weekend, I met up with Annie and Erik at Annie's parent's house and they captivated me with their love. They had me laughing the entire time and are so natural in front of the camera. I was reminded quickly that I'm not in Colorado any more when I found myself swatting mosquitos away between each click of my shutter. My only visible battle wound was a bite on my forehead. Seriously... my forehead. What a crappy place for a bite! It looked like my face was hatching the worlds largest pimple and when I found people talking to my forehead and not my face, I felt the need to explain to them it wasn't a pimple, it was a mosquito bite, to which most just nodded silently (but I know they thought I was nuts and didn't believe me). BUT... Annie and Erik can attest to the reality... it WAS a mosquito bite.
Back to Annie & Erik... they are such an amazing couple and are truly in love. I feel so thankful that they asked me into their lives for this big event. I couldn't be more honored, you two. ;) You're wedding is going to be amazing, and I can't wait to try the famous pork chops!
Lucky in Love...
Honestly... I'm so lucky. I sometimes have to pinch myself after another great shoot. How did I get here? How is it that such amazing people keep walking into my life and let me capture some of the most important moments of their life? I'm just lucky. Last weekend, I met up with Traci & Lawrence for an engagement session. The love between these two just radiates. No words needed to be spoken, just being around them made me happy. I was smiling from ear to ear when I left... and, once again, realized just how lucky I am. Thank you Traci & Lawrence for letting me into your lives. I can't wait until our next session.
